One of the most famous and recognizable areas of New York City is Rockefeller Center. During the holidays, it is home to some of the most beautiful decorating on the east coast.

It houses a giant Christmas tree, decked in baubles and lights, which is one of the most photographed aspects of the holidays in the city. It is also turned into a giant outdoor ice skating rink every year, and provides fun and entertainment for both visitors and natives, alike.

It was built by the Rockefeller family and is located in the center of Midtown Manhattan. It is an area that spans Forty-Eight to Fifty-First Street, as well as Fifth and Sixth Avenue.

It is the home to nineteen commercial buildings, many of which are home to some of the most famous companies and studios in the United States today. The plaza and the surrounding areas, themselves are luxurious and beautiful.

The center is also home to one of the biggest television networks in the United States, NBC, and is the main filming area for a number of different television programs and talk shows. If you wish, you can purchase tickets to the filming of some of these programs and, possibly, get a glimpse of your favorite celebrities.

The gift shop is very inclusive of memorabilia from every one of your favorites shows on the NBC network. It is very accessible from the street, and there is a great deal of interactive attractions inside.

Those that really wish to learn more about the studios can schedule a tour of the building. You can even get a picture behind the news desk or give the weather report in front of a green screen.

The tour will give you a sight into all the different control rooms. You can even play around with props, costumes, and cue cards.

If you are more interested in the arts and dance, then take a jaunt over to Radio City Music Hall. It has long been home of the famous Rockettes.

Purchase tickets to a show, and you may even get to go backstage and meet the talented dancers. They are a staple of New York City culture, and the infamous group has been performing, with new dancers each year, since the early portion of the twentieth century.

Each year, the Rockettes put on a Christmas program that is fun and family friendly. There is even a nativity section, in which live animals are present onstage to tell the story of the birth of Christ.

There is plenty of outdoor dining and recreating in Rockefeller center. You can have a delicious lunch or dinner in an outdoor bistro, surrounded by the beautiful fountains and golden sculptures that decorate the plaza.

One of the most spectacular views of Manhattan is offered at the "Top of the Rock" observation deck. Though it is not as high as the Empire State building, it has said to offer some comparable three-hundred and sixty degree views of the entire city.

If you really want to catch a glimpse of a beautiful sight, purchase your tickets to this deck. You can find them the day of at the building itself, or purchase them ahead of time online to avoid lines and waiting.

Top of the Rock is located at 30 Rockefeller Center. The hours are 8:00 am to midnight, seven days a week.

Some may find the view especially beautiful at night, when you are able to take in the gorgeous city lights. The observation deck, itself, consists of three levels.

It is located on the sixty-seventh, sixty-ninth, and seventieth floors of the building, and is eight-hundred and fifty feet above street level.

Do not forget to bring your camera along. Photos are encouraged, and you can get some spectacular footage and photographs of the views from the top.

There is no limit as to how long you can stay, though most tend to take about forty-five minutes to an hour to really take in the spectacular view. This is an attraction that any visitor can enjoy, whether you are alone, with your spouse or significant other, or if you bring your whole family along.

Top of the Rock, as well as the rest of Rockefeller Plaza, is one area of Manhattan that any vacationer should not miss. Devote at least a few hours of your day to this interesting and booming area.
