Credit Repair Can be Easy
Credit Repair Can be Easy

Credit repair can provide a powerful means of reclaiming control of your own credit life, of cleaning up your credit reports, boosting your scores, and allowing you once again to qualify for financing at preferred rates. Getting started may mean breaking through the inertia caused by fear, but once underway you will find the credit process quite easy.

Picking Your Report

Many people, after a period of financial strain, are afraid to look at their credit report. This is understandable; the content of your report can be both discouraging and confusing. There are several ways to make the credit repair job easy, and even fun, starting with the right choice of a credit report.

Avoiding Credit Report Headaches

Who knew? There is a big difference between credit reports. If you pick the wrong report for your credit repair project you will be faced with the major headache of deciphering a morass of cryptic data. This is the case with the reports that you can get for free once a year courtesy of government mandate. You will get three reports in three formats, none of which are user-friendly. Why work so hard.

Make the Investment

Remember that you are undertaking the credit repair project for financial reasons. The end result promises noteworthy financial gain via lower interest rates, better loan terms, and increased opportunities. Good credit may even mean better employment, and who can put a value on that? A good credit report will cost you 15 or 20 dollars. Loosen the purse strings and make your life easy with a report that makes sense.

Hunt For Buried Treasure

Got your report? Good! Now is the time to relax and do it right. Remember the payback. Do not rush through this project. You want to identify everything on your report that looks askew. Get a red pen and circle items as you go, make notes. You are on a hunt for buried treasure. Every item that you can add to your dispute list has the potential of adding points to your score and putting money in your bank account.

Skip the Back-Story

The dispute process is a piece of cake. Or at least that is the way it should be. You may have to overcome your inclination to overcomplicate. When it comes to credit repair, less is often more. Your dispute letters will need to include all of the specific identification that shows up on the credit report, along with your personal data, but when it comes to the dispute language, keep it to two or three sentences. Leave out the back-story and state your case directly.

Encountering Resistance

And now for the part that many people find challenging. Patience. The credit bureaus are prone to taking shortcuts. A certain percentage of credit repair dispute letters are not even read, but simply ignored, rejected, or classified as frivolous regardless of anything. The bureaus may even ask you for more identification even if you sent in ironclad proof of who you are.

Keeping it Up

So what do you do if you do not get the results you want the first time out? Try again. Remain calm and resend your credit repair dispute letter. This time, you may reference your prior attempt and let them know that you are upset, unhinged, and may even be suffering financial damage. Ask them to research the information properly. You should continue regardless of the tone of any response you get from the bureaus. It just is not over until you say so. Keep it up and you will prevail. Good luck!
