subject: Will Courier Companies Pick Up Packages From My House? [print this page]

For many people, the time when they only needed a courier company was when working at the office has passed. Now, people need courier companies at their homes for a myriad of different purposes. Whether it's for personal use, for work, or for a business that you're running out of your home, you may very well have a legitimate need to have a courier company make a pickup from your location. The trick then becomes finding a New Mexico courier service that actually offers this service to their customers.

There are some courier companies who will, and others who will not make this service available to their customers. While this type of service is still growing, it is still common to find many courier companies that only do business with actual business clients. The growth of home based business may have something to do with the fact that more couriers are expanding into offering services to residential locations however.

It is getting a package picked up from a residential location in particular which is difficult. Most couriers will make deliveries to these areas, but to take on business from these locations usually doesn't represent enough of a profit to them. Residential areas are, in many major cities, quite separate from the major business or industrial locations, and this is where the lion's share of work for a courier company is going to come from. By sending a courier to a suburb or residential neighborhood, they worry that they will be taking too much time just driving, without enough deliveries and pickups on their routes.

Despite this though, you should be able to find a courier company that is going to make a pick up from your home by now. The service that you'll be looking for will probably be called something like residential courier service, or residential pickup service. Google is probably going to be your best ally in finding a courier company in your area that offers this type of service.

There are some companies that even specialize in this, and are offering great shipping options for people who are operating small businesses out of their homes. Just because you've used a courier in the past at a business location though, don't make the mistake of thinking automatically that they're going to provide you home based service. It is always a good idea to check first. Also, you should always ask if there are extra fees associated with a residential pickup.
