subject: Traffic Traffic Traffic and More Traffic! [print this page] I thought I would post my thoughts about something that has been sort of a hot topic the last couple months and is a bit near and dear to my heart.
What I am referring to is the latest runs of Google "slaps" or so they are called. It seems Google is biting the hand that feeds and shutting down unsuspecting advertisers accounts.
What seems like without notice they are bringing down the thunder and shutting people down. Their reason? Nobody knows! They certainly won't tell you.
And there have been LOADS of products out there that have been taking advantage of these circumstances. But what is the true solution?
1. Don't buy into the hype.
2. You shouldn't have had all your eggs in one basket anyway.
Meaning, your sole source of traffic should not be just PPC. There are plenty of other forms of advertising out there that can get the job done. Of course adwords and other forms of PPC work well and you should use them. But it shouldn't be your sole source of traffic.

PPV/CPV
Blogging
SEO
Media Buys
Retargeting
Banners
Articles
Press Releases
Social Book marking
Social media
Video marketing
These are just a few of the ones that work!
But a word to the wise. You don't want to dive in and do video marketing one day, then try your hand at SEO the next, then the next day try out some banner advertising.
My advice is to simply pick one form of advertising, make it work for you, and then and ONLY then start another form of advertising while the first one is working for you in the background.
I have written on this before but you need to FOCUS. If you spread yourself too thin you will not get the results.
Recap, PPC shouldn't be your only source of advertising. Build out other forms as well. One at a time! Play on your strengths and make it happen. Don't buy into the hype. Google is going to be around for a long time, so SLAP proof BS is just that. There are ways around it.
