subject: My Watch Fell Down The Toilet And Other Bizarre Ways Watches Have Got Damaged [print this page]

Working in the watch industry for a number of years you receive calls from people who have damaged their watch and would like it repaired. When asked the reason for the damage some of the explanations can be a little bizarre.

I thought I would list a few:

The dog ate it. (NB dogs like the leather straps to chew on)

Hit my watch with a hammer whilst doing some DIY

Watch fell off as as I got in the car and I ran over it on the drive.

Came off on the Waltzers and it struck someone in the face.

Watch fell off when I was riding my motorbike and a car ran over it.

My watch fell off while I was dancing and a Lady in high heel shoes trod on it.

I was in a fight and my watch received a heavy blow as I was protecting myself.

My Husband said "dont waste money on jewellers, I can put a new battery in"

I was cutting the grass and the lawn mower went over it.

I thought I could fix the watch myself and tried to get the screw caseback off with scissors and a hammer.

I was holding our baby when He suddenly reached out, grabbed the watch off my wrist and threw it across the room.

I got my hand stuck in a letter box and when I eventually managed to pull it out the watch glass had broken.

My watch fell down the toilet.

I was testing my watch in the shower to see if it was waterproof and I dropped it on the shower floor.

Does anyone know of any other watch damage explanations. Love to hear them
