subject: Four Ways To Make Your Bathroom Look And Feel Bigger [print this page]

When it comes to square feet, it's not often one is lucky enough to get a spacious bathroom. More often than not, bathrooms are relatively small in size. Something that can help people to relax more is to feel like they have more room to move around as they shower or get dressed in the bathroom. There are a few tricks to consider trying for people with bathrooms that they would like to make to look and feel bigger. These tricks can be implemented into nearly any type of bathroom. Some of these tips can be done inexpensively as well.

The first trick is to install custom glass shower doors. By getting glass doors on the shower, bathroom users will be able to see the entire length of the room instead of getting blocked at a shower door wall that is not see-through. This helps people to see the shower space in the bathroom which will shed some light on the fact that there is more room to move around in than what it would look like if the doors were not see-through.

Speaking of shedding light, natural light is just the trick. Bathrooms that have windows-especially more than one-will have an abundance of light which will help to open it up and make it feel not as cramped. Fresh air is very helpful in making someone feel less claustrophobic. Having a window or two in the bathroom is no exception. Instead of covering the window with blinds, it's best to invest in glass that is clouded so that light can come in but modesty is still guaranteed.

Mirrors are another old trick in the book for opening up a room. A mirror almost serves as an extension of the room as it creates an optical illusion. Since what is showing in the mirrors are more of the same-colored wall and decorations, it provides the false impression that there is more space when there really isn't. Sometimes pictures on walls make spaces feel more cramped as they simply take up more space. While in all reality mirrors take up space as well, they have an opening effect on a room which ends up making it look and feel more spacious.

Lastly, it's important to eliminate clutter. Clutter has a way of making the walls close in on someone, metaphorically speaking. While clutter in a bathroom is almost impossible to completely avoid, there are ways to better organize it. Investing in more shelves and cabinets for a bathroom will allow for a place to hide the clutter and make the area feel more open and free.
