subject: Tips To Improve Your Basketball Training Drills And Make You A Better Player [print this page]

Basketball training drills and time to do them are the two things you need to excel at the sport. Playing the game and learning as you go doesn't cut it. You also need to practice off the game and focus solely on different skills required when playing.

One of the skills you require to play is ball handling. This is one of the most basic abilities you need to master so you can become better in the game and prove to be an asset in any team. Basketball training drills can help you become better with dribbling.

Let's look at some simple basketball training drills you can use to help enhance your dribbling abilities. Please familiarize yourself with these basketball training tips:

1.)Walking up and down

This is a great drill to start this three series of drills. It can be great for a warm up and help you get a feel of the ball. Start by walking from one end of the court to the other and dribble the ball with your right hand. On your way back, use your left hand to dribble.

2.)Running up and down

This is a great drill to condition your body. It is a great way to simulate a game, since you will be running with the ball a lot up and down the court in all basketball games you'll play.

Start by running as fast as you can from one end of the court to the other and dribbling the ball in your right hand. Then go back but this time, use your left hand to dribble. If you are finding this hard to do, try to jog while dribbling, instead of running at full speed.

3.)Zig-Zag Dribbling

This is the most complicated in this series of basketball training drills in this article. You need to start at one baseline with enough space to dribble to the left and right. Start by dribbling towards the right, using your right hand to dribble. Once you reach the free throw line, perform a dribbling technique, such as a crossover or behind the back dribble, to change direction of your dribble. This time, you should be dribbling towards the left. Use your left hand to dribble this time.

Once you have reached the half-court line, perform another dribbling technique and change the direction of your dribble. You should now be dribbling towards the right using your right hand. Again, once you reach the free throw line, do another dribbling trick to change direction of your dribble. This should be your last direction, towards the left using your left hand.

Do the same procedures again until you end up on the baseline from where you started.

These basketball training drills will be a great addition to your usual training. Use these basketball training tips to help you develop your ball handling while on the move. They are also great ways to help you get conditioned and simulate an actual game. It would also be great if you can ask someone to defend you while performing the zig-zag dribbling. It would feel more difficult and would be better for you.
