subject: Check Out the 3.6L Engine in the 2010 Chevrolet Transverse [print this page]

The Chevrolet Traverse is a General Motors produced full-size crossover SUV which was first debuted with the 2008 model. The Traverse was introduced to compete with the Ford Flex. The Traverse is the first full-size crossover SUV produced by GM. The Traverse has done fairly well so far having sold over 90,000 SUVs in 2009 and the trend looks to continue.

The Traverse is well regarded and considered one of the best deals among all affordable full-size crossover SUVs. The 2010 Chevrolet Traverse comes standard with a 3.6 liter, direct injection engine that produces 281 horsepower. Adding an option dual exhaust can increase the horsepower to 288. While there are no available engine upgrades in the Traverse, the 3.6 liter V6 engine is considered powerful enough by most of its drivers.

The Traverse comes standard with front wheel drive, although it can be upgraded to all wheel drive with an additional cost. A six-speed automatic transmission comes standard in the 2010 Traverse.

Because of the direct fuel injection system, the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse is quite fuel efficient. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates the 2010 Traverse, coupled with front wheel drive, gets 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. If the driver selects an all wheel drive upgrade, fuel efficiency drops off slightly. The EPA estimates the 2010 Traverse with all wheel drive gets 16 miles per gallon in the city and 23 miles per gallon on the highway.

The 2010 Chevrolet Traverse has the same engine options as the 2009 model. There are no plans for altering the engine options in future years.
