subject: Our Men Need A Boot Up The Backside About The State Of Their Health [print this page]

. Research shows that 65 percent of them are overweight to some degree but only 40 percent thought they were overweight and the rest would not even admit they were carrying any extra weight at all.

It seems many men are oblivious to health warnings about allowing themselves to become overweight and continuing to live no-exercise lifestyles. Around 70 percent of men surveyed said they had no idea that being physically inactive combined with being overweight increased their risk of developing cancer or other killer diseases.

Just in the short time frame of a decade or so the rates of overweight men has increased by two thirds. Women are overweight too but research shows that more of them know they have a problem and that is the very first step to making the changes necessary in lifestyle to put it right.

Being in denial about one's health means that as the years pass by your body is not just frozen in time waiting for you to get moving or eating better, it is heading in a downward spiral of premature and accelerated aging. The threesome of villains - denial, pride and laziness will always be followed up somewhere down the track by some unwelcome and unwanted consequence to your health and wellness.

It is surprising that many men view proper exercise as an 'optional' extra. But if they become more aware of what happens to their body without it they may not be so tempted to avoid it. It is easy to think "Nobody is going to know if I don't work out or eat quality food". That idea may be true ...for a while.

Lack of enough muscle building and maintaining activity does take its tolls of a man's body. Muscles become weak and flabby and the bones the muscles are attached to also weaken, become brittle and easily broken. Posture takes on an aged appearance and without vigorous activity 'growth and repair' hormones are not stimulated which sends a human body (both male and female) on a one way ticket to early decay and degeneration.

Our modern technology driven world has not helped our male partners. Their grandfathers and earlier ancestors had to work hard physically just to feed and clothe their families. Modern men hardly do anything anymore than requires any exertion whatsoever. They sit for up to 80 percent of their day barely moving. From their car, to their desk, back to the car and home to the couch. Not a recipe for good health.

So unless the men of our world make a concerted effort and put this vigorous movement back into their lives with a proper intentional strength training program they are in big trouble, sitting ducks for the killer diseases stalking us picking off the vulnerable.

You see, when the human body becomes weakened through inactivity all of its systems weaken as well including the immune system which is the bodies amour and protection.

A couple of strength training sessions each week is all that is needed to get the muscular system back strong and healthy like it has been designed to be.

This will kill two birds with one stone 1) get rid of the excess body fat so you do not have to suck that tummy in to try and hide it and 2) give greater protection from disease that can whack a man in mid life and cut his life short by decades.

Surely your health and future is important if not for you how about as a gift to the people that love you?
