subject: Lots Of Engine Options For The 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe [print this page]

Many consumers will find that there are no difficult choices to make this year when considering the available 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe engine options. For 2010 there is only one available motor, but it delivers an impressive 320 horsepower and 335 pound-feet of torque. While the single option may in fact be somewhat smaller than the 2009 6.2 Liter V8 that was offered, the performance of the smaller engine is still sufficient enough to make it a worthy adversary of other sport utility vehicles that have a strong towing capacity. The smallest motor that was offered in 2009, the 4.8 Liter V8, has also been dropped and will not be found as one of the 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe engine options.

The 2010 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 Liter V8 engine may at first appear to be the same that was offered as one of the available motors on the 2009 model, but the most significant difference is that it is now designed to operate on E85 ethanol fuel. Although the fuel economy has not increased a great deal, the small change will certainly amount to recognized savings for any owners that drive in various conditions. The estimated city mileage is 15 mpg whereas the estimated highway mileage is 21 mpg.

While it is true that the 2010 Chevy Tahoe has very limited engine choices, the new and improved 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3 Liter V8 is quite capable and was statistically the most popular motor that consumers selected in 2009. The horsepower may be slightly lower than that of some of the engines offered by competitors, but the maximum torque can be achieved at a mere 4,000 RPM thus enabling it to boast impressive 0-60 times of 8.5 seconds. The engine can easily tow its rated capacity of 8,400 pounds and will continue to be a versatile choice.
