subject: Fake it till you make it? [print this page] This is something that has bugged me to no end for years so I thought I would discuss it today with you.
That is the fake it till you make it concept.
I get the question all the time. "Justin, I am not an expert so how am I supposed to get results?"
And that is a damn fine question.
It is easy to think that you can just fake the fact that you know what you are talking about in a certain niche in hopes to get some results.
You see it all the time out there. People throw up a website claiming to be an expert when in fact they haven't achieved any sort of results whatsoever. It is easy for them to whip up some shots of income and results in Photoshop which leads the unsuspecting customers to think they are following an expert.
This can work in the short term, but in the long run you will be sniffed out like a drug dog at a drug raid.
When I first got started online I thought this was a good idea to do this very thing. But I didn't know any better at the time.
My long time mentor and former business partner Mike was first to step up and slap me across the face saying you are leading down a path of danger.
So I quickly learned that I needed to produce results in order to say that I was an expert.
But how do you get started if you aren't an expert in a certain area?
The answer is leverage. You leverage the skills and expertise of others who are experts in order to produce the results you are looking for and become an expert yourself.
In my case I leveraged an affiliate program in a certain niche, started generating leads for that particular affiliate program.
And in a matter of months I became the top affiliate and had results to catapult me to expert in that niche.
My results were something like this (don't quote me on it as it was a while ago so I don't remember the exact numbers).
"How this 24 year old kid became the number one affiliate for PRODUCT X and generated 1945 targeted leads in just 30 days and how you can too!"
I have gone on to do MUCH more than that but this was just a launching pad!
I got the results, and now I could claim I got the results propelling me as an expert that knows a thing or two!
Many people would kill to generate almost 2000 leads in a month, so that I why I was an expert.
Basically think of it this way. No matter who you are or what you do, or the results you have achieved. There is someone out there that is willing to pay for the information that you know.
But all of this couldn't have happened for me unless I used leverage to propel me to expert status and have some results as proof that I knew what I was talking about.
I didn't have to lie or manipulate the data. These were real results.
So if you aren't getting the results that you want, and are not sure how you can set yourself apart. Leverage other people's success until you have the results enough to prove you are an expert.
