As is typical of the network, there are three levels of service offered. Each includes the local channels where available. The standard package is close to what is normally offered and then they add approximately 40 more Spanish language channels to the mix.
The second level provides an expanded package but without the premium channels. HD and sports channels are included. The other 40 plus Spanish channels is added on. This is a huge increase from the 3 or 4 current Latino channels currently offered.
And, last but clearly not least, the complete Premium package offers it all. The 40 plus Latino channels and HD and the premium stations too. While there has always been some bi-lingual and Spanish closed captioning, this step increases the available content by more than 10 fold.
So you get one hundred and five regular Dish channels plus the forty Spanish in the basic package. You will get two hundred and ten channels at the next level and two hundred and fifty five with the premium package.
Perhaps the best part of these offerings is the opportunity to provide viewing content for the whole family. Bi-lingual families can please the kids as well as the grandparents. And any increase in the variety of Spanish offerings is an improvement. Just being able to see more than 3 channels is a new experience.
The Spanish speaking population has long been under-served. This goes at least a good way toward addressing that lack. To see the media, at least Dish Espanol, finally responding to a growing market that has been ignored is encouraging. Viva El Espanol.
