subject: Women's Activewear - Is It Really Possible To Exercise In Comfort And Style [print this page] Style and comfortStyle and comfort. Aren't these the two things that most women would love to figure out? Style means their personal expression - and most of us have our own style of clothing but also want to be trendy and keep up with the latest trends. Comfort is always key, especially if you live anywhere that doesn't always have the perfect weather (which is all places except San Diego, CA!, those lucky people!).
Anyway, coming back to the point, yes, it's possible to pick workout clothes that you look and feel good in. Follow some simple tips that I outline below and you will be well on your way to a happier workout. Let's talk about Comfort first. It's realy the key.
1. COMFORT
Comfort is all about material. Workout clothes come in three kinds of material. Cotton, Good Synthetic and Bad Synthetic. And I'll explain. I know that's not the traditional classification . Cotton and cotton blends, we all know about those. COtton is GREAT except that it doesn't last very long, especially if you sweat a lot. They also don't last very long - you'll probably go througbh a bunch of shirts that look baad very soon and you have to toss them but have to. Use cotton only for short workouts unless you are a huge cotton fan and are ok with changing to new shirts during your workout.
The Bad Synthetic includes material such as plastic-based clothes, rubber-based clothes or synthetic blends that make more sense on tents than people. Yet, there are a bunch of those out there, and many sell well because they look bright and are sold under the pretext that they last longer. Yeah, bad idea. I am pretty sure a rubber tyre would last a LONG time, would you wear that? Common sense says to avoid these altogether. Your chances of going back tomorrow are reduced significantly with these useless fabrics.
The Good Synthetic are the supplex, coolmax, polypropylene or cotton blends that "breathe". They are often more expensive than plain cotton but they are worth the extra price. They usually block out sweat spots so you look better as well in these. They keep sweat from sticking to your body so they keep you more comfortable and they have pores to let the sweat evaporate. And finally, they dry fast so you don't need 50 of them filling up your closet and lying all around the closet untidily (oh, you know that's what ends up happening!)
2. STYLE
This one is a lot harder to pin down. But I'll offer some tips nonetheless. Always put comfort first. When you are comfortable, you'll look better naturally. The best looking, best fit, uncomfortable clothes are gonna make you look miserable.
Next, make sure to ask look at yourself in the mirror at the gym when you work out. If you look awful, that's a good cue you need to change your clothes. Stay in clothes that make you look good in the gym mirror. That will increase your chances of going back to the gym and staying longer. Believe it or not, our goal is to look best in our own eyes more than anything else.
Look at TV sporting events for ideas on the latest clothing. If you find something interesting, search for that person's name and most likely you'll see their clothing brand in their picture. Then go to their store online and pick it up or do some research on it and pick similar brands from cheaper stores. BodyUP makes excellent fitness apparel for very reasonable prices that beat all the leading brands and have been featured in pretty much any fitness magazine that's out there.
So there you go, hope your next fitness session is spent in style and comfort.
