subject: INTUITION ON DEMAND: HOW TO QUIET THE MIND FOR INSPIRATION [print this page]

Have you ever had a flash of insight, a creative inspiration, or an intuitive hit? Did you know that you can have those kinds of positive inner thoughts whenever you want, that you can ask your inner voice for the inspirations you need just when you need them? You can! But first it's necessary to quiet your mind enough to hear your inner voice.

Meditation is not the only way

How do you do that: quiet your mind enough to hear your still, small voice? Many use meditation and find it a very effective way to quiet the mind enough to hear their inner voice. But there are many other ways.

You already quiet your mind at least once a day

In fact, you already know how to quiet the mind, and you do it at least once every day. When? When you go to sleep. You don't just go from the state of being fully awake to the state of being fully asleep. First, you quiet your mind by daydreaming about a pleasant thought, by letting your mind float until you fall sleep, or by using some other method you've developed for yourself over time. And there are other times during the day when you daydream a bit too--when taking a shower, while driving on the freeway, or at any other time when your mind isn't strongly focused on any particular task.

Proven ways to quiet the mind

I always wondered whether I was doing it "right" when I first attempted quieting my mind to ask for inspiration from my inner voice. After a search, I found several audios online that were scientifically designed to "entrain" the mind to the "alpha" state, that level of mildly relaxed brain wave activity, like daydreaming, where the human mind is receptive to inspiration. One such audio that reliable transported me to the daydreaming alpha state was Tom Kenyon's Wave Form I (http://bit.ly/cwBFds). But there are many other songs, chants, and rhythmic harmonies that transport their listeners into contemplative states. Find one and try it to experience for yourself the opening door to your inner knowledge.

Ask your quiet mind a question

And once you do slip into a contemplative state, why not formulate a question about something that's been troubling you and ask that question of your inner voice? Try it out; you'll be amazed at the results.
