Luckily, he meets a fisherman, played by Djimon Hounsou, in prison who has come across a huge diamond that could help DiCaprio out of his unfortunate situation. Once out of jail, DiCaprio and his new acquaintance set out to help each other. DiCaprio will help the fisherman find his displaced family and in return, the fisherman will help DiCaprio get the massive diamond. Along their way, the two men meet an American journalist, played by Jennifer Connelly, who is attempting to write an article that will shed light on the humanitarian crisis in Sierra Leone. She helps the fisherman find his family and receives assistance from DiCaprio with her investigation in exchange for allowing him to travel safely with her crew of journalists. DiCaprio and the fisherman then recover the huge diamond, which is where things start to get very suspenseful.
