First of all, chuck any sort of fear that you have in mind about traveling alone. You are sufficient to take care of yourself. All you require is a little tact and alertness.
So how can you keep yourself happy and safe while traveling alone? Just be cautious about these few things mentioned below and see how you can travel in a carefree manner. 1. Always keep your friends and family updated about your latest whereabouts. Let them have a track of your travel. 2. Keep a pepper spray handy, it's a small thing but can work wonders for your confidence while traveling all by your own. 3. Mobile phone, Keep important numbers on speed dial and memorize them. A stitch in time would save you nine. 4. Avoid going to very secluded & shady places. If you are going to be the only living soul in a 500 meter radius, then think again about going to that place. 5. Steer clear from wearing expensive or too much jewelry, you don't want to get into eyes of thugs and thieves. 6. Learn to make friends quickly, at least make acquaintances so that you don't seem a lone traveler and also have somebody to look after you on the travel. A simple smile and conversation about the weather would pave the way. 7. Whenever in a hotel room, lodge; lock your room properly. Don't make it easy for anyone to just walk by. Be extra cautious in letting people in. 8. At time of commute - if on road, then totally avoid hitch hiking with strangers. Traveling by air, trains or buses are much preferred. Try booking flights, trains, buses which let you reach in day time instead of night. It's much safer, even if you have to wait those extra hours on platform then. 9. If you travel alone very frequently, then investing some time in learning self defense is an extremely viable idea. You don't have to be an expert, but just a few tricks here and there would be great. 10.
