Many people all over the world look at growing Bonsai trees. There are many reasons for why people do this. There are of course a number of things that you should be aware of when you are growing a Bonsai.

Before going any further with Bonsai trees knowing a little about the history is a good idea. The idea of the Bonsai actually originated in China and moved to Japan. Literary works where these trees were mentioned increased during the 17th century. There is also a bonsai that has survived since this time and is now stored in the Tokyo Imperial Palace as one of the National Treasures of Japan.

As all plants come from seeds many people will wonder what kind you need to grow a bonsai. In fact there are no bonsai seeds that you have to specially buy as any tree can be transformed into a bonsai. All that you need to do is decide which tree you want to use and get the seeds for that one. Once this is done you simply plant them and follow the usual bonsai process.

It should be noted that most people who are growing these will not use seeds as a base. What they will do is propagate from the tree they want. To do this you will need to cut a piece of the tree you want. Then place the cutting into a medium where it will grow roots. People find that the best type of cutting for this is one that is thin and young.

When you are growing a bonsai you need to be aware of all the things you have to do. One technique that people will use when shaping their tree is leaf trimming. This is the removal of certain leaves to create an aesthetically pleasing sight. Many people use this technique to create bunches of leaves on the top of a branch where there are no leaves below it. Additionally many will use this to create the deadwood effect by removing all the leaves on a branch.

To get the tree to the small size you want you will have to do some pruning. It is this that is the first step in creating a bonsai from a sample. Many people remove the top of the trunk in order to make the tree compact. Any branches that do not fit into the design of your tree will be removed. Pruning does not only relate to the branches but to the roots as well. You should also keep in mind that all pruning needs to be done carefully as bad pruning can weaken or even kill the tree.

You should also take a lot of time when looking at the care of the tree. The small size of the pots these trees are in can cause problem with watering. If the trees are not watered properly then they will go into drought. Unfortunately too much water will also cause problems like fungal growth and root rot. You should repot your bonsai at regular intervals. The time between repotting will rely heavily on the trees age and vigor. You should note that mature trees do not need to be repotted as often as growing ones.

A lot of people look into growing bonsai trees. There are many reasons and you will need to know a few things when doing this.
