We always ask questions like "where does my money go" when we file our taxes every year. Our taxes are country's heart that will be aiding in the advancement of its sectors. This article will give you an overview on how our government spends our taxes.

1. The different departments or areas of the government will be the ones receiving our tax money. This is to help sustain its programs for the good of the citizenry. The military will also receive a certain percentage. They are responsible for keeping the country safe from foreign invasion.

2. One of the major things that your taxes are being spent on is health care. The rising cost of the medical equipment and medicines and the longer lifespan of people with chronic diseases are the main causes why a large portion of our taxes go to health care. The specific program where the health care budget goes are government's national health insurance system, Medicare.

3. Housing and Community is another one of the government's many expenses. Under this program, the government has to provide ways for all people to have shelter, even those who are unemployed. This is why the government is allocating money to support public housing and community services.

4. The government spends taxes on food for those who cannot provide their own as well. They are considered part of the governments program for nutrition.

5. Veterans' benefits. There are many benefits awarded to war veterans and their families. Among these benefits are education, housing and burial services.

6. Education. A large portion of our taxes are spent on education. Education is the community's basic foundation for producing excellent citizens. Those who are educated can take advantage of this benefit regardless of age, sex or race.

If you are aware of these government programs, you will find it easier to understand why you have to pay your taxes. While it is easy to complain, it is our responsibility to make ourselves aware of the things that we are doing with our money. You can always do a more intensive research if you want to have a better understanding about our taxes. Surely, you will find that our taxes are intended for the delivery of services for our own benefit and that of our countrymen.
