subject: Background Check Trend. Find Out How People Look At It. [print this page]

Welcome! I'm Steven JohnsonWelcome! I'm Steven Johnson. Only a couple of days earlier I got interested in a people search company. The reasons for me to do so are personal, so I won't talk about that. With the first thought I was amazed. It's incredible how fast you can get anyone data online. The Internet contains everything these days, including the most intimate information. I started to realise it slowly, but certainly - we are not anonymous in the modern world. You just can't be with the Internet, lighting speed servers and credit cards. This reality shows, that we are in fact - all connected.

I bet the good guys will like the exposure - it only brings them more glory. The story is different for bad guys - if they're up to no good, they'll want to keep it a secret. I personally think, that public data records are generally a useful thing, but can be frown upon for getting their unwiped feet into privacy. For instance, let's look at people search engines. You can find the data on anyone there. Quick, free and with no question asked. At least you won't find any questions that Google wouldn't ask on a regular search day..

It's a great tool for employers. Your boss can check your data without going anywhere far from his office desk and his laptop, that sits comfortably on top of it. He just goes onto the site with people search engine, types in some basic information, and voila - he has all your sins and merits, right before his nose. Now, some more research will reveal your details, such as: Your debts, college experience, address, civil status, all that's true and false about your education, work experience, nationality etc. He can find out these things right now, with a couple of clicks of a mouse. Sometimes the thought makes you uneasy, right ?

If we look on it from the side of employer, it is very useful, though. Finding more about future partners and employees is a crucial part not only for recruiting process - it's good for the employees too. Why? Because like minded people work under the same roof will prove to be much more productive and happy about their job. So it is crucial for the employer to make sure he chooses the right man for the position. To put it simply - if the man is right for the job, the job is right for the man. People search engines help to connect like minded personnel.

But that's not all. It turns out, that people like you and me use people search engines very often, too. It's mainly for personal reasons like finding information on friends, relatives. Romantically engaged couples use people search to find out more about their boyfriend, girlfriend or fiancee. The list just goes on and on. What is making people search so popular ? Has it anything to do with the growing trend for networking (as shown by the example of social media like Facebook, which has now more users than the 4th worlds largest country, and that's only the begining!). Is it a result of privacy peep shows like Big Brother? Or perhaps is it a much, much deeper phenomena that has our whole planet moving on high speed towards full unity, without boundaries of privacy?
