Using Registry edit Method
Normally, System Restore is allocated a space of 12MB on every drive by default. For many people, this space is more than enough and they are fine with it. However, other people feel the need to allocate a little more space for it but they do not know how to go about it.
Registry edit lets computer users to decide how much space they would like to allocate for system restore. To get to registry edit, simply click start>run>regedit>enter. Follow the following channel HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, select SOFTWARE then Microsoft, then WindowsNT. Choose the option of CurrentVersion then select SystemRestore then you select the option on modifying data types. You will find this on the right side of the editor. On the data type area, select DWORD then select DiskPercent as the value name. On the part that shows the settings for value data, simply put the percentage that you would like to allocate to system restore then exit the registry.
For some machines, the DiskPercent option is not always there. In this case, you will have to create it yourself before completing the process. To do this, right click the right side of the registry editor and select new'. Then select DWORD and rename the value as DiskPercent. After that, double click on the pop-up box that comes and enter the percentage you would like to allocate system restore then exit the registry. To ensure that your new settings are saved, you will have to reboot your computer.
Using Non Registry Method
Some computer users are not very keen on editing their registries. In this case, simply right click the My Computer' icon on your desktop, go to properties' and select the tab System Restore. Find the drive that you would like to edit and using the button for settings, simply indicate the amount of space you wish to allocate to system restore. Reboot your computer to ensure that your settings are saved. Now, you have successfully edited the amount of space allocated to this very important feature.
