subject: What Subwoofer Should I Use With My 10 Inch Car Speakers [print this page]

What is the ideal RMS Wattage to go with 10 inch car speakers? This question is asked around many times and it really depends on the type of music you listen to. If you listen to music with heavy bass, such as Reggae, R&B, Hip-Hop etc you will need a bigger wattage subwoofer probably around 200 300 RMS Watts. On the contrary, if you favorite music is POP or other softer music, you would probably better off with some mid/low bass. This will ensure that the bass does not overpower the vocals. RMS Wattage of about 150 200 is recommended for this kind of setting.

One of the best brands in Car Audio is Alpine. Although they are higher priced than the average market subwoofers, their quality is superb and you will certainly hear the difference. Sound can make or break the enjoyment of your music, a good brand audio system is recommended. There are other notable brands on the market as well such as Pioneer.

If you are looking for entry level brands that give you decent sound without maxing out your credit card, some of these include Sony, Kenwood, JVC etc. Each of brands have their strengths and weaknesses. Some might be really professional in making car amps while others make really good speakers. The recommendation here is a general guideline to their overall performance. It is important to do research on a product level. This includes looking up on reviews and user feedbacks on a particular model. One of my favorite places to read reviews is Amazon, they have a community with buyers and users eager to share their opinion of the product. One word of advice, read both negatives and positive feedbacks, the overall score should be at least 80% positive to even worth reading its reviews.
