Merchants have done a great job and everyone is convinced that their products are so cool and hip, the retail charge is perfectly fine. They have built an empire on that philosophy and enough people buy it so they can continue running the company like that.
They do have some cool products and that's not to take anything away from what they do have to offer. The point is that there is always something that people will be willing to pay for because they have to have it and sometimes price is not the biggest concern or issue. Video games have taken over many peoples preferred form of entertainment. A good game can be more exciting and interactive than any movie or TV show and some of the stories can compete with a good book. Though they are still discovering what it can do, many people love to play games instead of watching TV. But as with television and everything else, too much of it can be a bad thing.
