Wood Flooring: A Long-Lasting Investment
Wood Flooring: A Long-Lasting Investment

Utilizing timber as the flooring of your house can add beauty and character to the whole place. It produces a rustic feel but at the same time it brings elegance and class to an interior design. Wood flooring is tough and long-lasting as well. It is built to withstand weight and other demands of everyday use.

Wood floors, while reasonably pricey, are considered a lifetime investment. If they are corrected maintained, they are expected to last for years. Instead of replacing the floors if it begins to show age, you can just have it refinished.

In tropical nations like Singapore, humidity is a part of life. Unfortunately, raw wood is no match for dampness. Wood floors should have a penetrator varnish to keep water from seeping into the wood and to prevent stains caused by liquid spillages as well. Aside from preventing moisture and dew from destroying the floor, regular cleaning and upkeep should also be practiced.

Make sure to put a rug or a floor protector pad under all furniture, including the sofas, stands, and tables. Although wood flooring needs lesser care than other materials, it is still not resistant to dirt and scratches.

Don't let dirt sit in overtime. Even if your wood flooring has a good sealant, a build-up of dirt can still ruin its finish or worse. Sharp objects, even high heels, can also damage an unprotected floor. If this happens, surface sanding should buff the punctured area, followed by a sealant coating.

Use soft-bristled broom and brush to sweep the floor regularly. If there's a spill, use soft and dry towel or dry vacuum. Don't use wet mops as the water may just permeate through the wood and may just aggravate the floor's condition.

Wood flooring is not only aesthetically superior to an interior design, it is also a good investment. It can add worth and style to a structure. And while it is extremely tough, it still needs correct and regular care to maintain its polish and beauty.
