subject: Starcraft 2 Strategy - Nydus Network Guide [print this page] The Nydus Network is one of the least used buildings on BattleNet right now because many Zerg players don't understand how to use it. In this guide I will show you how to utilize the Nydus Network as Zerg. The Nydus Network can be used as both a harassment tool and an all out attack tool. A Nydus Network is available after you have reached Lair tech, it cost 150 minerals and 200 gas and builds fairly quickly. Recent changes to the Nydus Network have made it so you only need to have line of sight on the location where you want your Nydus Worm to spawn.
One of my favorite strategies is to get a large group of Zerglings with Metabolic boost with a few Banelings. Once you have built your Lair, immediately start working on a Nydus Network. While it's building, continue producing more units and convert an Overlord into an Overseer. When your Overseer is complete, carefully send him behind your opponents base, just within view of his mineral line.
When your Nydus Network finishes, select all of your units and load them into the Nydus Network. Depending on how many you have, this make take up to a minute. Now it's time to launch our attack. Select your Nydus Network and select "Build Nydus Worm", you can now place your Nydus worm anywhere on the map where you have vision. Since your Overseer is in position, drop the Nydus Worm right behind your opponents mineral field. While it's building, set its rally point right next to your opponents workers. When it completes your units will come pouring out, the Banelings will quickly destroy workers and buildings while your Zerglings swarm over your opponents base.
Keep building units at your base and set your Lair's rally point on the Nydus Network to have a nice steady stream of units pouring into the enemies base. This puts you an a great position behind your opponents wall, forcing him to stop whatever he is doing and move back through his base to stop you before all of his buildings are destroyed. Typically people will not expect this because few Zerg players ever use the Nydus Network. Next time your opponent is playing defensively in, give this strategy a shot.
