subject: Knowing How To Build A Site By Using Hyper Text Markup Language Isn't Necessary [print this page]

If you want to build a site for what ever reason, you are going to be presented with a lot of options for accomplishing that feat. Using Hyper Text Markup Language is one of them. Do you know what that is? That is the long name for HTML.

HTML is still being used in multiple applications online for the use of websites, don't get the wrong impression. What I am getting at here is you do not have to know it. In fact back to my first paragraph, you do have a multitude of methods available for going online with your website.

The first couple of things you want to decide on is what is the purpose of your website and what is the best way about going about accomplishing that purpose. What are you wanting to present to the world and why? And by that last question, realize by "the world" I mean the minuscule amount of people that will actually see your site.

Ouch, by that last statement. Why did I say that? That relates back to my original questions to you of what your sites purpose is and how to accomplish it. Lets say for the reasoning of the rest of this article that you want a website for the purpose of business to earn a profit for yourself.

In that case, then you want your website to be seen by your target market, and wouldn't that be great if it was the whole world? Okay lets present you with some options for the basics of creating your website.

1- Know HTML and build your website from scratch using notepad. Or learn PEARL or PHP or any of the other programmers language. Nope none of these are necessary and would be labor intensive for you in so many ways.

2- Buy expensive software that is being used in the creation methods of a lot of websites today. Software such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop are probably two of the highest rated tools for this purpose. However this option is rather expensive and not necessary again. Also these software's have a pretty extensive learning curve. You can find video tutorials on You Tube that can help you with this learning curve, along with their respective manuals. You can also take college courses in teaching you these software's.

3- Use less expensive software to build a site. These are readily available on line. Often they will function in the mode of what is being called WYSIWYG, sometimes referred to as wizzywig. It means What You See Is What You Get, but it simply means you do not have to know HTML to use the software.

Using these types of software can actually accomplish the creation of a pretty good website for you. You can load a pre-built website template into the software and simply modify it to reflect your own websites content. These software's are pretty easy to use, do not have much of a learning curve at all.

4- You can hire a webmaster to handle the whole show for you. Their job would be to create the website, see to it that it was published online and to oversee all of the sites maintenance. This can be expensive as well. The benefit to this is it frees up your time to doing other things like overseeing the promotion of your website.

5- You can hire a programmer to simply create the website and you handle the uploading and maintenance. Or you can also use your programmer for updating your website. This can also be expensive but again frees up your time and energy for other things.

6- Use one of the many free website online services out there that are available. Sites such as Squidoo, Hubpages, Wikispaces to name a few allow you to build a good content rich website. These are a viable option and do not require the use of specialized knowledge and are free. You might want to consider going this route if your funds are limited. Google being the prevalent search engine on the planet likes Squidoo and Hubpages in particular. There are many other free sites out there that you can create a site on, Word Press, Blogger, Live Journal and Weebly come to mind.

So back to our purpose, to build a site and have all of our target market see it. The above options would feasibly accomplish the building of your site. But the seeing of your site by your target market is a different story. You must know how to accomplish getting traffic to your site. This is a whole other side of the coin.

There is no one option for creating traffic to your website. I will say this, your target market will type search terms into Google related to their desires for products and services related to your website. Match your site to their search terms so if they do land on your site, they will be happy with what they find. Even if you go the above route and build your site with services or software you still have to factor in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to get your site indexed.

In conclusion, if your site is business in purpose, I suggest in building your website and promoting your website you get real and do it professionally. You can and should use expert resources to create truly expert results. Any thing less than than would be less that you are capable of and probably would not result in your sites purpose.
