Barrier Repair - Why Dermalogica Made This Moisturiser For Sensitive Skin

Barrier Repair as the name suggests repairs damage caused by environmental factors such as car fumes, cosmetics, anything that strips the skin, pollution, cold weather, etc. It's a waterless silicone rich moisturiser that repair the damage for sensitive skin.

You need to use this dermalogica barrier repair in your skin care routine, if your skin suffers with irritation or redness.

The Benefits of Barrier Repair

Barrier Repair uses the best of nature by using organic silicones from plants. Dermalogica decided to use silicones in this moisturiser, because silicones are great moisturisers. They do not clog the skin, they act as a barrier and keep the skin hydrated, reduce irritation and makes the skin feel really smooth.

To improve the barrier function of the skin dermalogica uses the silicones dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane in this product. The silicones act like butter by slowing oozing into the skin cells. This improves the barrier function of the skin and protects the skin from moisture loss and dehydration.

Sensitivity can be caused from dehydration, so you can see that silicones are an important part at repairing the skin.

The sensitive complex by dermalogica is used in Barrier Repair along with the silicones. This Anti-Ozonate Complex consists of (fumeric acid, furmitory extract and lemon extract). The skins membranes, proteins, hylauronic acid content and vitamins need to be protected from pollution and Fumeric Acid is the ingredient that protects the skin.

Pollution and sunlight combined together makes ground level ozone (environmental pollution). This is very toxic and destroys the vitamin E stored within your skin cells. Vitamin E is actually reduced by 25% when your skin is exposed to this ozone for just two hours.

Protect your skin, with topically applied Vitamin E and slow down the ageing process. Its no wonder that Barrier Repair contains vitamin E. Its great for smoothing the skin, protecting the barrier , providing deep hydration and antioxidant properties.

Vitamin C is fantastic at protecting the skin like vitamin E and that is why it is also included in this dermalogica moisturiser.

This moisturiser also uses Evening Primrose Oil and Shea Butter.

Evening Primrose Oil and Shea Butter work together to strengthen and protect the skin from dehydration and environmental conditions.

Dehydration can be found all over your skin, it can make your skin feel tight and looks like dry, scaly, flaky patches on the skins surface. Pulling gently on your skin sometimes can cause tiny crinkles on the surface of the skin, even oily skin, this is known as dehydration.

Dermalogica use part of the chamomile plant called bisabolol an inflammatory ingredients that soothes, heals and calms irritated skin.

Will Barrier Repair Have Enough Hydration For Your Skin?

The barrier function and water balance of the skin is repaired and restored thanks to this sensitive skin moisturiser. Severe dehydrated skins will need to use another moisturiser such as intensive moisture balance over the top of this product. Expect to wait at least three weeks to see improvement in your skin.

Skin smoothing cream moisturiser by Dermalogica is an excellent way to add extra hydration to your skin, when you find your skin on the drier side. This moisturiser is so good at repairing the skin, that you may need to return back to your normal dermalogica moisturiser.

Occasionally I suffer with sensitivity on my neck. Using the dermalogica ultracalming sensitive range on my neck for two weeks repairs it and I switch back to my usual range.

Dermalogicas Barrier Repair is an investment in your skin and works wonderfully. If you suffer with sensitive skin or have the occasional sensitivity I would recommend this product, its great.
