I was surprised by what is available and best of all for free.
Freesat probably is a naturalsuccessor to paid for satellite television at about 50 for a standard set top box. Installation is a snip take the old set top box away and replace it with the new one you are now watching for free. There 140 channels all the usual suspects plus much more.
What about putting up a satellite system that will pick up multiple satellites. More expensive could come in around about 400-700 installed.The viewing choices are vast and for theequivalent to a years subscription to a satellite television provider.
What about a system where I can have a mixture of satellite and internet. You could use your pc to streamon-linecontent such as on demand, many TV stations have on demand players BBC iplayer for example. There are even pay per viewmovies.
Freeview provides a similar service with similar channels for a similar price to freesat. However, this service needs a digital aerial but after that you are home free.
After doing my research I know it is possible to make cut backs without loss of choice and feel more liberated for doing so. I can now plan with excitement mysatellite system will probably go for getting my TV and internet off the same dish.
