If a sign had the imprinted message, HOME SECURED BY ABC SECURITY, only the words, HOME SECURED BY ABC SECURITY, would reflect the illumination of cars lights. The background of the sign at night would be invisible.
Both printing paradigms are valid, and will convey the message desired, by the security company and the home owner.
If I had to choose I would rather have a reflective security sign protecting my home.
