subject: Importance of Regular Assessments [print this page] Today I was writing a program for a client I had worked with over 8 months ago. I wrote his original gym program and took his fitness assessment at that time also. I approached this man [let's call him Roger] a week ago to book in a time to do another fitness assessment and write him another exercise program.
I had noticed over the preceeding weeks that Roger had been doing the same workouts when he was training and his physique had not changed since the first time I had met him. I wanted to make sure he was heading towards success; instead he was on the trail of demise. So we did the fitness assessment and the results were not pleasing in the least.
In 8 months he had lost 1.5kg and his measurements had actually stayed more or less the same. I was not happy - I don't like these moments. As a result I wrote him a new exercise program and decided to give him a tip that is set to change his life...the same tip I am about to give you!
To ensure your success in losing weight and finally reach your goal weight, your ideal body...just as a business does daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly profit and loss statements and keeps track of their progress - you must do the same. You need to know where you are in relation to where you want to be. This way, if something is not working, it's only not working for a week instead of not working for 8 MONTHS!!
There is nothing more frustrating then working your ass off for 8 months (or longer) only to discover you have not achieved a damn thing.
As you assess yourself using typical'Fitness Assessment' criteria you become focussed towards your goal, it becomes a reoccuring thought within your mind. This starts a chain reaction which results with your brain looking for ways to achieve this goal.
The alternative is going through the motions paying hardly any attention towards actually having these actions DO SOMETHING beneficial towards the achievement of your goal. PLEASE, don't make this fatal mistake. I do not like being the one to tell someone the last 8 months have been a waste.
Stay focussed, motivated and 'aware' of your progress. With continual monitoring youwill make steady, weekly progress.
