Keepsakes from happy memories or memorable events in a person's life are the best to keep. Many people collect certain items that have some sentimental value to them and it could be photos from different places, events, materials they have created personally, etc. These items are called personal "Memorabilia" collected by many people. Aside from personal mementos, some collectors keep collections from the people they idolize, favorite movie, famous event in history, etc.

The term memorabilia means memory in the French language. It is synonymous to the words: Keepsake, mementos, and souvenirs. The word is used to represent collections from popular events, famous individuals, and places. The items are collected because they hold a special value to the collector of the item.

Different individuals collect different keepsakes during their lifetime. An example of keepsakes he might collect is from his favorite movie when he was a kid. It can be posters, photographs, figurines, soundtrack tapes, etc. The items can be found at many stores and sold at expensive prices but still collectors buy them. The more popular, rare and old the item is the more expensive is its price.

Another keepsake that an individual can collect is items from the people they idolize. It could be the personal belongings of a popular actor, singer, dancer, etc. Such items could be a musical instrument, clothing, dance shoes, jewelries and many more. Usually, when the owners of the items are dead, the mementos are being sold expensively because of its sentimental value. Aside from personal belongings, many companies manufacture different items to commemorate the performer.

Another type of souvenirs that people keep is items from a past event. An example of a popular event in the past is the World War II. It's an event in history that will always be remembered by many people and written in history books.

The items that actually came from the war and used during the war are the items that many collectors want to have. These are the soldier uniforms, hats, challenge coins, shoes, pins and many more. It is usually found sold in different auctions and the price is expensive. This is especially true if the item is in good condition and one of a kind.

One more type of keepsakes collected are masterpieces of famous artists in history. It is usually a painting, unpublished composition, sculpture and many more. They are very rare items and they are sold in thousands or millions of dollars. Most of the creations are one of a kind and no other identical creation is made by the artist. Replicas are already being sold in the market for collectors but many are still hoping to own a genuine piece.

Most of the "real" masterpieces are found in arts museum displayed and well guarded. The genuine pieces are carefully stored and preserve to prevent damage. It is not commonly found everywhere and if one is being sold, it is usually auctioned for special causes.

So, if you want to collect various memorabilia, better start making initial preparations. That will include saving money because the items are usually pricey. Also prepare a proper storage place so the material will not be damaged easily and you can make it last.
