subject: What Is An Electric Double Oven? [print this page]

Are you a budding chef who's looking to turn out incredible dishes for food critics at a Michelin rated restaurant, or someone who dabbles with cookine now and again but wants to get the most done in the shortest period of time?

Either way, you can get a lot more done if you replace your single oven with a new, double oven model. They don't take up a lot more space, but they do give you a lot more cooking power! Soon, you'll be churning out exotic dishes like a professional and stunning your friends and family!

So why is it that many people are turning to cooking at home with a built in electric double oven? What's the point of having a double oven? It's because having two ovens in one unit is a huge help when cooking a meal. It's easier to prepare a meal when you have two different ovens to work with. Usually the lower, larger oven will be a convection oven. Food cooks faster in a convection oven than in a regular one because a convection oven uses a fan to blow hot air around the oven.

The upper oven will usually be a regular, conventional one. Without a fan, the conventional oven just heats the food through until it's cooked. Chefs will often use a conventional oven for delicate items like pastries, meringues and souffles. The upper oven will also include a grill element for grilling food which means you'll have three ways of cooking in one kitchen unit. Self cleaning liners are sometimes found inside double ovens, which makes cleaning super easy. If you see the word catalytic the liners will be self-cleaning. You also get a choice of finishes with a lot of ovens, for example black, white or steel.

A new double oven can quickly ad easily update a worn-out kitchen. Built in ovens have to be fitted into high kitchen units at about shoulder height. There are not many gas double ovens available as most use electricity. Excellent double ovens are made by the likes of AGE, Electrolux and Bosch. Online there are lots of warehouses trying to sell you kitchen appliances but it's recommended that you use a specialist kitchen appliance retailer who supports their customers. Don't forget to check for online coupons and discounts. For example, there's free delivery at many websites which can save a fortune on heavy items like an oven!
