Lifestyle design involves thinking through your goals and priorities in life and actively pursuing what matters to you. Some things to get started in designing you life include.

1. Thinking through what you actually want. What is your primary objective in life? What do you want to be remembered for? Who do you want to be remembered as?

A good tool for getting an answer to these questions can be to write 1, 3, and 5 year goals. Perhaps in the next one year you want to lose 50 pounds, run a marathon, and make at least $70,000 per year. Three year goals may be to travel around the world for 6 months, read the bible cover to cover, and volunteer at least 10 hours per month. 5 years goals may be to develop a net worth of at least $400,000, donate at least one month a year to volunteer work and obtain an MBA from an accredited school.

2. Eliminate as much clutter in your life as possible.

This involves physical and situational. You will need to go through your place item by item and throw out everything that you do not really need, even if it is hard. By doing this you will feel much better and have less clutter to get in the way of your focus. Additionally, you will want to eliminate as much work from you life as possible so you can focus on your non-work related goals. You may consider asking your boss to let you work remotely from home, starting a business, or doing consulting work. A challenge to you is to try to work less than 25 hours per week and still make as much money as you do in 40 or 50 hours. This will force you to think of creative solutions and eliminate unnecessary motion that does not yield results.
