The human body is a complex amalgam of various different systems. Out of these systems, one important part is our breathing system. Technically it is called the respiratory system and consists of the lungs, bronchi, trachea and diaphragm.

Disturbance in breathing leads to inadequate supply of oxygen to body organs and hence results in their malfunctioning. There are various classifications, causes, symptoms, remedies and preventive measures for breathing problems.

The basic purpose of breathing system is to provide oxygen to body organs and release carbon dioxide, a waste product of different functions, to the outside. Any disturbance in this mechanism results in breathing problem.

These diseases can be caused by various factors. For example they can be genetic, caused by lack of particular nutrients in diet, due to atmospheric irritants or pollution or simply initiate from mental stress.

There is a wide spectrum of symptoms that prevail during respiratory diseases. These can be very ordinary ones like coughing, sneezing, sputum, blocked nose, or the more complicated ones like physical exhaustion, shortness of breath, increased heart beat, weight loss, or blueness of lips.

Diet is one of the many ways to reduce the intensity of these problems or eradicate them completely. A balanced diet with appropriate portions of fruits and vegetables should be taken. Increased consumption of water and important minerals is a must.

At the same time, preventive measures should be taken to reduce chances of disease and its spread. Smoking and drinking are at the top of the list of precautions. Similarly, unhealthy activities, obesity, inactivity, closed environments, too much regular fatigue and junk food should all be avoided.

People working in factories or construction sites should wear masks. Regular check-ups with your physician should also be maintained. This is very important in order to remain healthy and keep an eye on your progress.
