subject: The Largest Television In The World Unveiled [print this page]

The digital industry was left in awe recently as the world's biggest television was unveiled, rivalling past attempts.

For all television and film fans the sheer size of this television will sound amazing. Electrical giant Panasonic has developed the world's largest HD 3D Plasma screen Television. The huge TV was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It measures a shocking 152 inches and has a 8.84 million pixel screen amongst its impressive array of technological features.

The enormous TV is in actual fact a bigger version of the Panasonic range of full HD 3D PDP televisions. The PDP (Plasma Display Panel) achieves the same brightness as a normal HD TV in around a quarter of the time which allows it to keep up with the 3D images. The overall aim was to ensure that by enlarging the actual screen none of the quality would be diminished.

The technology also incorporates crosstalk reduction which helps to minimise the amount of overlap between what is seen by the right and left eyes of those watching. By doing this it reduces double images. Some other systems display left and right eye images one line at a time which means that within each frame the image is directed at either the right or the left eye.

It remains to be seen whether Panasonic is going to make the 152 inch monster TV commercially available. They are however planning on purchasing glass of that size but this will be cut up in order to make smaller models. The smaller models include the usually awe inspiring 50 and 60 inch models.

It seems that the cinema-style screen size is still a fair way off from being implemented in people's homes yet with the digital industry booming it will surely only be a matter of time.
