Part time office cleaning jobs are a great way to get a start in the commercial cleaning industry. The money is usually not that great, but the experience you can gain in the use of chemicals and equipment can become invaluable in any future oportunities that come along.

The more you can learn in respect of techniques and routines, for example, the order in which the tasks are completed can make a huge difference when and if you decide to go out on your own and start your own office cleaning business. Time efficiency is paramount and you need to realise that in the commercial cleaning industry time is money and the more efficient you are at completing the job the more profitable it will become. This is especially true if you have casual staff working on an hourly rate of course.

When quoting for an office cleaning contract the price is usually quoted by the job and not on the time actually taken. So if the accepted quote for cleaning a particular office three times a week is $150, that equates to $50 dollars a clean and if you have calculated that the job will take an employee one and a half hours and you are paying that employee $15 per hour your labor cost for the job will be $22.50 per clean, which becomes $67.50 for the labor cost for the week.

This will give you a gross profit for the weeks cleaning of $82.50 out of which you will have to pay for chemicals, equipment depreciation and upkeep, insurance and other incidentals such as book keeping, stationery, advertising and other sundry items, so that you will be left with a profit for the week from this one job of, probably around $60.

However if you were to do the job yourself you would no doubt do the job a lot quicker than a casual employee, you would probably expect to clear around $45 an hour after expenses.

The end result is that having your own cleaning contracts means that you can set your own hours, you can run your business based out of your own home and it is quite a lot more profitable than just being a casual cleaner doing part time ofice cleaning jobs.

One of the great advantages of having your own commercial cleaning business is that you can get started with the bare minimum amount of equipment and a very small inventory of cleaning products.

As you aquire more contracts you can upgrade your equipment, the better the tools the easier the job becomes, and you can also start buying your cleaning products in bulk, thus getting them at a cheaper rate which certainly helps your bottom line.

Plus you get the immense satisfaction of being in control of your own destiny.
