subject: Types Of Louisiana Shooting Schools [print this page] There are basically two different kinds of Louisiana shooting schools, fixed base and mobile. Those that are fixed base usually have substantial facilities which they use to conduct their lessons, and students travel to that site for their training. With mobile training, trainers travel from one class to another and go everywhere and anywhere they need to in order to get enough students to make it all worth their efforts and time. There are, as you might expect, advantages and disadvantages to each type of Louisiana shooting school.
Fixed base shooting schools are those that offer high quality ranges with a wide variety of simulators that are not available to traveling instructors. Which ones are the most fun? Most students really enjoy those that are set up like a real street, complete with mailboxes, parking bumpers, doors and windows, street lights and more. Targets come into view only for a brief time and then disappear again, which allows students to engage targets in a very realistic way. It should come as no surprise that these types of Louisiana shooting schools are expensive to maintain, which means greater cost for the students. However, this also usually means the best training and low instructor to student ratios.
However, one of the downsides to these schools is the fact that students have to do the traveling to get to them and also, the cost is greater than traveling instrucors charge. Most of the schools in the state are located in nice, easy to get to places, so hopefully you have one located pretty nearby to where you are located so that you are able to avoid excessive travel expenses. To give you a bit of an idea, on average a five day course will run at least $1,000.00, and this does not include travel, lodging, meals or your ammo, either. If there are no fixed locations anywhere near you, you may want to check to see if there are any traveling instructors who will be in your area soon as an alternative.
With mobile Louisiana shooting schools, the instruction is pretty good, and the cost is quite a bit less than with the fixed operations. On average, a three day course will cost you about $300-$500. If the location is close to where you live, your costs are going to be even less. However, the major downside to this type of Louisiana shooting school is that anyone can present themselves as trainers, the facilities that are usually available are usually of a lesser quality and the student to instructor ratios are much higher.
