subject: Return To Schooldays And Nights [print this page]

Depending on exactly where people are within the country, children are or soon will probably be going back to school. One of the often overlooked elements of a great education is a great night's rest every evening. It might not be quite as essential as great nutrition and diet to learning, but it's up there on the list of issues that assist children in learning.

A great mattress might help kids get that great evening rest every evening. It could be siblings sleeping on bunk beds with twin mattresses or twins sleeping on a full mattress. It could be an ortho memory foam mattress or a conventional innerspring mattress but either way, the mattress might help the youngster get the required eight, nine, or ten hours rest every evening.

Now there are other issues besides the mattress that influence a youngster obtaining that great nights rest. Some kids want a touch of light (the nightlight) although other people want it as dark as it could possibly be. Some kids want their rooms to be as cool as feasible although other people want a sauna- like atmosphere. And great luck to the parents who have one of each sharing a room, as it's virtually impossible to discover the happy medium between the light/no-light and also the warm/cool elements.

The timing and content of the supper meal can have a major influence on a child's sleeping patterns. Some kids will do a great job of the "clean up your plate and consume all your vegetables" just so they can consume the chocolate ice cream and chocolate cake for dessert. Other people will do so for the opportunity to consume a bowl of cereal as a reward. And still other people will make meals out of nothing but junk food if allowed to do so. All of these can cause a youngster to not rest nicely.

Now part of reality is, most all kids, over a school term, will have nights exactly where they just don't rest nicely. Even on the evening prior to the return of the school term, the excitement can maintain the children awake and active later than the parents may like and make them feel tired the subsequent morning. The older children will of course wish to stay up later than they ought to, just as they've done all summer and then wish to rest in the subsequent morning.

But it's understandable if they wish to rest in when they've a nice, firm, rest inducing mattress.
