[print this page] The Philadelphia Eagles have a full blown quarterback controversy on their hands! Sure they will say " There is no quarterback controversy , Kevin Kolb is our starter ". I have heard this theme before. A few years ago Matt Leinart was the starting quarterback for the Cardinals , and he struggled early and there was speculation that Warner would be brought in to replace him.The Cardinals coaching staff denied any reports of a controversy and assured us all that Leinart was the starter. Well we all know what happened. Kurt Warner came in and lead his team to the Superbowl!
I don't think that you can believe anything you hear from Andy Ried at this point! He is busy trying to work on damage control and of course he doesn't want to say he has lost faith in Kevin Kolb as his starting Quarterback , but Andy Ried also knows what the rest of us already know .. that Michael Vick is back , and ready to lead an NFL team!
Kevin Kolb will most likely get one more chance , and only one more chance to be the starter. Any slip up at this point and you have to assume Vick will replace him as the starter. Vick has played well since joining the eagles and has proven he has the skills to be an NFL starting Quarterback.
Michael Vick himself seems to be motivated to get this controversy going . His post game statements were that he felt if he had played the entire game he would have given the team a better chance to win. Now those are some controversial statements and he will likely be hearing about it from the coaching staff! However it is tough to argue with him , It does look like the Eagles have a better chance to win with Vick as the Quarterback.
If I was a betting man ( and I am ) I would bet my entire life savings ( about 5 bucks ) that Vick will be the Eagles starting Quarterback at the end of this season . We will see how it plays out , I would hate to lose my last 5 bucks!
