subject: Different Gadgets That Support Sd Cards [print this page]

When you think of a SanDisk Extreme Pro CF or another form of SD card, normally your thoughts go to phones, cameras and MP3 players as that is what we most regularly use SD cards with. However this is a very limiting view of their use, and they can actually be used with a range of other devices that you might not have considered. Here we'll look at some of the more different gadgets that can use a SanDisk Extreme Pro CF some of which you might own (or invest in in the future) but not really of thought of, and others of which you may not be as likely to use.

Computer: First of all we all use our SD cards with the computer, as a way for it to communicate with our other devices. We do not really think of an SD card in a computer as expansion then, but more as a reader or an additional function that serves a use. However at the same time that SanDisk Extreme Pro CF can be used to improve the function of your computer and to give it a range of other roles. First of all as it's possible to get up to 64GB compact flash, you can still actually increase your computers' storage considerably in fact if your computer is a few years old it might not even have this much internal storage on its own. Furthermore it also gives you a great form of backup that allows you to constantly save duplicates of your work should anything go wrong.

Photo Frames: Obviously here we are referring to the digital kind of photo frame which rather than showing one static image instead flicks through a slide show on your screen to show others. This is a great use for an SD card and a very engaging and never boring display for your room.

Printers: Many printers now can read directly from SD cards which makes them far more versatile. It means firstly that you don't need to install the printer and can use someone elses, but at the same time if you want to print some photos you've just taken on your digital camera you don't need to waste the time loading up the computer and transferring the photos there you're cutting out the middle man.

Dictaphone: Everything else is being upgraded for the digital age so why not the Dictaphone? Today's are tiny and can record as much information as you need, making them highly practical and giving them a range of useful purposes.

PDA: A personal assistant is something most of us can benefit from, so why not have one permanently in your pocket? With a 64GB compact flash card you then give it storage to rival your PC meaning you can carry out most of your business on the commute and play Sonic the Hedgehog too giving it actually more uses than it would have otherwise.

Netbooks: Netbooks are so small oftentimes that they can't even fit a CD player into their design. As such an SD card becomes their one and only form of external storage!
