subject: Moms: Education Now Brings Success Later [print this page]

It still remains true that learning and gaining knowledge are important to high achievement. Unfortunately many people don't have access to quality education opportunities. It provides a strong foundation for future generations when their moms can expand their own knowledge.

One important program that is seeking to help women is the education Grants for Moms program. Advanced education is important in today's society, and this worthwhile program aims to help both working and stay-at-home moms reach their goals. The program draws funds from the federal Pell Grant allotment and awards as much as $5,000 per person. The great thing about the award is that it can be spent for school expenses as well as indirect school expenses. This openness and flexibility is meant to give mothers all the opportunity they need to go to school.

With this grant many women can find a way to study their interests in an academic setting. There are almost no limits on the areas of study that can be taken up. Science, industry, arts and literature and history are just some of the areas of interest that many people hope can lead to a fulfilling career. Accomplishing personal work goals always begins with taking advantage of good opportunities. Education is a path that can lead to unexpected places, so it's important to be organized and open-minded.

There are many online resources that can help with career research. One important research tool is the Occupational Outlook Handbook, or OOH. Produced by the Department of Labor, the OOH is valuable resource to research many areas of employment. These industry projections are done on a 10-year scale. To find information about required education or training, salary, job projections and more, CareerOneStop is another valuable publication. There are many sites out there, but it's entirely possible to find good resources about career development. Keeping a close eye on the similarities among the data can help point out clues in employment.

A slow economy shouldnt slow down the pursuit of education. When work production increases again, there will be a need for hard-working, knowledgeable people who can get the job done. Women are often in the toughest positions financially, so grants for mothers are a smart way to get talented women into the fields they desire.
