subject: Flagpoles And Flags Make Your Building Stand Out [print this page]

Internal halyard system type poles have become increasingly popular over the last decades. These wonderful poles have all belonging mechanical parts installed on the inside of the flagpole shaft, hence internal system. An internal halyard pole is offered with the commonly known cam cleat or winch system with removable handle, or the Colonial V-Cleat, the latest in halyard technology.

The "deluxe" internal halyard flag poles are offered with a "self-locking" winch system. This system is installed on the inside of the pole shaft and only operates with a handle that can be removed at any time. Since the handle is removable, additional security is naturally offered. As a steel halyard unwinds from the winch, it passes through the inside of the flag pole, over the revolving truck (included with these flagpole types) to the outside of the pole where a retainer ring provides a dynamic anchor.

All new poles include various parts to make the "whole thing" work. Easy installation instructions make for a quick fix usually. The improved winch is gear-less and self-locking at any point, thus not needing any separate brake. This internal halyard system offers easy and rapid lowering and raising of small and huge flags. No weekly or monthly lubrication of any parts is necessary. This winch system is easily adaptable to already existing flag poles

Make it your habit to clean your aluminum poles on somewhat of regular basis. Even though claimed to be free of maintenance, staining and even rust could introduce itself if dirt, dust and grease on the pole shaft are left untouched for a substantial amount of time.

Different products are available at your flag pole supplier to help maintain a good look of your shaft. With a brush-on rinse-off formula dust, grease, dirt and mildew are longer an obstacle to possible rust and (short-term) staining. Professionally developed cleaning products can be applied for anodized, bare or painted aluminum pole surfaces.

Plaques can function as a beautiful and bright finishing piece and are usually offered as accessories to most flagpoles. The plaque curves nicely to fit the outside diameter of the pole (obviously).

According to manufacturer's information and specifications, certain deluxe type poles can actually fly flags up to 120+ miles per hour. This particular ability is dependent on flagpole length (which includes exposed height or height of the flagpole above ground level), diameter of the pole shaft and wall thickness of the shaft. For your information, flag sizes and shipping weights will vary and could change pricing.
