subject: The Reason I Would Like To Be A Medical Transcriptionist [print this page]

Let me start by saying I'm a single mother of two girls. I have always worked odd shifts to support my girls sometimes I would work two shifts to be able to support them. I barely go to spend any time with them at all. I got a call one evening while working my second shift of the day it was my oldest daughter telling me that I needed to come home. I get home that evening to find my oldest daughter on the phone with a friend talking about an eating disorder. Well, needless to say I had to quit my job and stay home to get her back to health. I finally found another job about a year later and only worked for about 3-4 months and got laid off I worked so many different times at that job that I and my kids had no idea which way we was going.

I would work third shift and come home get my kids and take them out of school to be able to spend time with them. That was the only way that I could spend time with them. I worked all the time I didn't have a day off there. Then as I said I got laid off and I haven't gotten another job since. That was a year and a half ago. So for me jobs typing work home would be a dream come true. I could work while my kids are at school and be here with them at night and if they need me through out the day. I would like to work from home to be able to be with my kids. every since they were little I have had to work. So I would like to be able to work from home so that I can be with them more often. I now have a future husband and step daughter also to take care of now, so I would like to be able to be home for them as well as my kids. SN:0TG9Y2ESY

My oldest is getting ready to go to college and I would love to be able to help her through it and say that I did help her out in school. I have been thinking about Medical Transcription for a while now. I have received mailings and emails about becoming a Medical Transcriptionist and the more I think about it the more it sounds right for me. I have worked in the medical field for 17 years and enjoy that. I think that I would like this also. To, know that I can get medical transcription jobs just out of school would be great. I think in a couple of years I would like to be able to start my own MT business. But, I would like to continue to study the materials and books to see if I couldn't become something better or something higher in the field. I would also like to be able to say in 5-10 years that MT is what is helping my kids get through college and what is helping me with my finances.
