Final Fantasy XIV, the latest Final Fantasy series by Square Enix is set for launch this September 2010. The game is developed to run on PC and PS3. The world in which this highly anticipated MMORPG takes place is named Eorzea. The game introduces many new features to the traditional MMORPG concept such as the use of guildleves to manage quests. One of the widely discussed feature of the game is its unique class system.

The classes are separated into Disciplines, also known as Job Systems. There are a total of four disciples: Disciples of War, Disciples of Magic, Disciples of the Land and Disciples of the Hand. Besides the known classes as listed under their respective disciplines below, the possibility of a hidden class is much rumored about given Final Fantasy's reputation with hidden classes. The Disciples of War consist of the following classes: Gladiator, Marauder, Pugilist, Archer and Lancer. The Thaumaturge and Conjurer are part of the Disciples of Magic, and Fisher, Botanist and Miner within the Disciples of the Land. The fourth job system, Disciples of the Hand is made up of the following classes: Carpenter, Blacksmith, Armorer, Goldsmith, Tanner, Weaver, Alchemist and Culinarian.

When it comes to Final Fantasy XIV classes, what truly stands out is the fact that each player can maintain just one character while testing out all the available classes. This is done by changing the weapon the character is equipped with. Characters in the game would automatically change class and nable a different set of skills as soon as a different weapon is equipped. How the job system develops and the exact details on how each class progresses is something fans look forward to learning about.
