subject: Stay Connected While You Travel With Rv Satellite Internet [print this page]

There is little that can compare to hitting the open road and traveling throughout this beautiful country in the comfort of an RV. In fact, the only thing that might be missing is the internet. Travel is even better now that RV satellite internet service is available.

For most of us, staying connected is an integral part of everyday life at home. We check email, search for information and even pay bills, often many times a day. And that doesn't change when you travel.

Before RV satellite internet became available, the only way to access the internet when traveling in your motorhome was to stop at WiFi hotspots or maybe stay at campgrounds that offered internet access. Now with internet via satellite, you no longer have to do that.

With a satellite internet system, the internet is accessible just about anywhere you go. The system works with a small dish antenna that may be installed on the roof of your RV. The other option is to go with a model where the dish isn't permanently attached. Either way, you will have high speed internet whenever you are not moving.

This is how the satellite system works. By using Global Positioning Technology the unit will find and then lock onto the satellite signal. When the signal locks, you have high speed internet access.

You can choose between two types of satellite units. One is an automatic roof-mounted unit. The other is a unit that is manually mounted on a tripod.

With the automatic roof mounted unit, you get convenience. It will automatically retract when the RV starts to move to prevent any possible wind damage while driving. The unit can also be retracted at any time while you're parked by using the "stow" button.

Automatic units cost more than the tripod mounted manual units. This extra expense is because of the technology used to deploy the system automatically.

If you are considering a tripod unit, note that you will need a fair amount of easily accessible space in order to stow the tripod and other pieces of the unit. And you'll have to assemble and disassemble the unit every time you move.

You may find that you won't want to take the time to assemble the unit if you're only making a short stop because of the time involved in set-up. Tripod units are more suitable for use when you are stopped for the day.

One area where a tripod unit shines is in its flexibility. For an RV satellite internet system to work you must have an unobstructed view of the southern sky. It's a lot easier to move a tripod to get an unobstructed view than it is trying to maneuver your RV to a new position.

Easily stay connected with an RV satellite internet system while on vacation. Why not bring all of these conveniences of home along with you, even high speed internet?
