This job pays lower than any other job on the industry - if we can call poultry-processing a "manufacturing" industry - except apparel. Those workers have to slaughter innocent live birds all day, and then pull their guts away, only to know someone out there in KFC will enjoy the product of their work in a few days. It is repetitive and boring. It has a truly awful work environment ; you can't even speak to your coworkers because of the loud noise of the factory machines.
Nanny on a temporary visa
The first bad thing is - they don't have a work visa. Those kind of temporary visa won't allow those women to quit their job under bad working conditions and try to find another one. They can't quit their job if they don't want to quit the United States. They entirely depend on their boss - hence their boss is almighty towards them, sometimes forbidding them to speak to anyone exterior to the family, forbidding them to leave the house even for a few hours, forbidding them to have their own life and their own friends - just a life of quasi-slavery in a rich man's home. Their wages average around 2$/hour. And most of the time they can't report abuse - because they would risk deportation.
Janitor
It's such a boring job ! And it's one of the less paid job in America. Janitors are paid very low wages just to sit on their office all day and to take care of the ridiculously tiny problems of the building's inhabitants. But - that's still far better than being a poultry processor, right ?
Unless you're a rich janitor -the rich janitor. An amazing guy who sat up his own business working 2-3 hours a day. And now earns thousands of dollars.
