Swift is argued to be the fastest loading WordPress theme, easy to customize and SEO optimized. My blog was very slow loading, and after testing over 20-30 themes, I decided to give Swift version 5.50 a try.
First, The Swift WordPress theme appealed to me not only because it claimed to be the fastest but it has a huge feature set. Some of the best features to note are an options menu, its SEO friendly, widget ready, ad ready, customizable and supports WordPress Menus. The first and most important feature for me is an options menu and Swift has a very comprehensive options menu. It has so many options, it is broken down into two options pages, Swift options and Design options.
In the Swift options, you can add email subscription, social networking and ad management. It is so easy to add banners or blog buttons to this theme as you can load them in the options menu instead of modifying the HTML files. I have not taken advantage yet of all these options, but so far and I am liking the Swift WordPress Theme.
Second, in my Swift WordPress Theme Review I want to point out the great options for customization. The design options page will allow you to completely customize the look and feel of your page. You can choose the width of the header, blog or magazine style, fonts, number of columns and right or left sidebar. You can even modify every single color on the theme to make your blog unique. Swift out of the box is a very minimalist theme and could be overlooked when compared to themes with big headers and lots of images and graphics. But keep in mind all of the images, graphics and flash animation will make your blog load slower.
Thirdly, we want to talk about the speed of the Swift WordPress Theme. I recently read that if your blog doesn't load in less than 4 seconds, people will go elsewhere. Wow. My blog was taking much longer than that to load. There could be many reasons for this, including overuse of graphics, images and flash animation in the theme. The Swift theme uses no images and a minimum number of http requests which puts less load on your server. So did it pass the speed test? Yes. My blog loads in less than 4 seconds now.
So what do I think about the Swift WordPress Theme. I give it an A+.
