subject: Using Yin Yang In The Home With Feng Shui [print this page]

Everywhere you go the yin yang symbol can be seen. It is used on t-shirts, necklaces, stickers, and advertisements. But many seem to display this symbol without knowing the true meaning behind it, which represents the two energies that make everything happen in life. The black and white sections of this image represent continuous movements of the energies together, and it's the interaction of those energies that is the essence of life.

The Feng Shui colors that interpret yin and yang are black and white. Yin carries the black color while yang energy carries the white. They must work together, one cannot exist without the other and they cannot operate alone. Within a home, when balance is everything, peaceful feng shui energy is needed to attract supporting energy and that is why the balance of yin and yang are important.

Yin is the passive energy or the female energy; it yields to the forces around it. This is the energy of silence, slow and relaxed movements, and deep darkness. It is the dominant energy during the night when you go to sleep or anytime you need to relax and recharge your energies.

The masculine and active energy is yang. This is the force that makes things work and move. It's a strong energy that is associated with lively sounds and colors, and energy that the moves upwards. When there is a lot of activity like in an office, a house full of people, and a party, this is the dormant energy being experienced.

The family room, living room, and a kitchen are generally the areas that carry the strongest presence of yang energy because they are the most active areas. Having lively colors and vibrant elements in those places contributes to that active energy. Using a lot of media materials and interactive games in those place helps to attract that energy. The balance of yin cannot be forgotten, as that passive energy is needed. Deep colors and comfortable seating areas help to keep the flow of balance.

The passive yin energy in a home is usually found in the bedroom. This is a place where you need that relaxing energy so you can recharge. It is important to get rid of the dominant yang energies that come in the form of TVs, office work, and even exercise equipment. But keep the presence of some of those energies through light colors to balance out the deep colors of yin and some candles. The yin energy in this room should be about relaxation, sleep and feminine sensuality.

A healthy and full life needs to be one that is balanced with good quality energy around it. Feng shui energies are often imbalanced because yang is dominant and there isn't enough yin for relaxation. Creating a home environment that is harmonious with balanced feng shui yin yang energies is important to attract that healthy and happy life that everyone wants.
