Skylights

Skylights are used to allow natural lighting into the steel building, making it energy efficient. Made of heavy-duty fiberglass, these translucent panels can be installed on the roof or on the walls. Skylights are often sold in twos. To determine how many can be installed in a metal structure, suppliers look at the number of bays or spaces between columns. Skylights are available in 5-0 and 10-0 nominal lengths. It is suggested that the panel at the end of any wall with skylights be a full height steel panel, for better corner trim attachment.

Windows

Just like in any structure, windows are essential for steel buildings because they provide light and ventilation. They also improve the appearance of the metal structure. Windows for steel buildings are self-framing for easy installation and can be placed anywhere where there are no columns or cable bracing. Metal building windows are either insulated or un-insulated and are available in a range of standard sizes.
