Situated on Cornwall's southern coastline you will find Mevagissey, which is a very popular place for those visiting this part of England to spend time in. Due to its location fishing still remains the main industry for the city and is part of many of its resident's lives.

As you approach the harbour late in the morning or early in the afternoon you will see hundreds of boats moored up. However the great majority of these can be chartered by you and offer a number of different activities for you to enjoy on them. Some will take you out to sea for a spot of deep sea angling or sharking, whilst others will take you out on sightseeing trips or just to have a spot of fun at sea. But with any of these charters there is a strong possibility that you may see some dolphins when out on them.

However if you just want to relax and enjoy what the city of Mevagissey has to offer then spend time wandering around its streets. There are various little shops that you can enter if you wish and explore. Plus of course should you get hungry during your wandering there are numerous places where a wide array of different cuisines can be enjoyed in many cases these have been made using locally grown ingredients.

Megavissey as well as being popular with tourists have attracted many film companies have chosen to use it in as a backdrop. It has been used in films such as Dracula, Rebecca and Treasure Island along with the long running TV series Doctor Who. Plus it has provided inspiration for many authors over the years. As well as Susan Cooper using the city as the basis of a fictional city in her book "The Dark Is Rising", George Bernard Shaw when visiting here wrote one of his plays.
