1. Log onto the internet and go to http://www.ebay.co.uk

2. When the website loads, look along the top on the right and click Sell'

3. Type in what you're selling under Sell' in the white box and click 'Sell it'

4. A list of 'matches' will then be shown. Just choose one of the categories (but you can choose up to two) from the list that best suits your item by clicking the check box to the left of it

5. Click 'Save and continue' at the bottom of the screen

6. At this point it might try to convince you to add a second category. We'll talk about second categories later. So if a little window pops up asking for this, just click 'continue' and wait for the next page to load.

7. You should now have to sign in' if you're not already. Do that if you need to and

8. When the new page loads, enter your Title and Subtitle (We'll show you how to do this to get maximum profits later). You might have other options

just below the title and subtitle. These are different depending on what you're selling. Just click the dropdown menus and select what suits your product.

9. Scroll down a little until you see Pictures'

10. Click the yellow box to add your free picture and/or click Add Pictures' if you want to add more pictures.

11. A separate window will load which has 3 tabs in it. Basic, Enhanced and Self hosting. Click all 3 tabs in turn and have a play around to learn what you can do with each. Each tab has a different way of uploading/using photos and you should choose which one is best for you

12. Go back to the main webpage and check the check box next to Gallery Picture' so that people can see a little picture of your item in the search results

13. Scroll down a bit until you see Description' and write (or copy and paste) your Description into the window. (Please, for now, just notice the tab Enter your own HTML' just above the description window.)

14. Scroll down, skip Listing Designer' (more on this later) and Visitor Counter' (Don't use these features because they reduce profits for some reason) until you get to How You're Selling'

15. Click the tab Sell at online auction' (Read why not to use Buy it now later)

16. Enter your Starting Price, your Buy it now price (If you have a feedback score of 10+), the quantity (See later) and choose the Duration of 10 days (See later)

17. Just underneath that, look for Start Listing Immediately' and Scheduled Start Time'. Choose Scheduled Start Time' by clicking in the little circle to the left of it.

18. You want the auction to start on the next available Thursday at 23:45 so use the dropdown menus next to Scheduled Start Time' to select this time and date. This will give your listing 2 full Sunday night viewings.

19. Look down a bit for Payment methods'. Choose as many payment methods as you possibly can offer by clicking in the checkboxes next to each payment method you can accept. PayPal is a must here.

20. Also, check the check box next to Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy It Now' if you have the buy it now feature

21. Scroll down a bit and look for Postage' and type in your postage cost for your item.

22. Check the check box next to Apply my flat-rate postage rule' and click

the Edit rules' link to enter a postal break' for multiple items (More on this later)

23. Scroll down a bit and look for Returns Accepted' and check the check box next to it

24. Click the dropdown menu underneath Item must be returned within' and select '30 days of receipt' (For maximum sales and minimum returns)

25. Type in your Return policy details' (See later)

26. Scroll to the bottom and click Save and continue'
